First time I've chimed in on this thread, I've been writing songs at a great pace this year, just demo'd 5 new tracks for my 'new' band PRAY FOR LIES.

I program all the drums in the super easy to use Acoustica Beatcraft, then lay some crusty guitars overtop. No bass or vocals, just enough to lay down the foundations of the songs for the rest of the guys to learn.

Examples of some other stuff I layed down using this method here:

I decided to record the songs in my head. I hear them, however, most clearly in the shower or in the street, not in front of my computer with my guitar in hand.

Most unfortunate. Come over to the space some time, or I will come there.

I thought I was the only one who this has happened to  You learn from past mistakes.

My current situation is limited to an acoustic guitar, recorder and jew harp, so been writing over a dozen opuses. Some dark-folk as well as more mellow-prog based material. Planning on reviving my main metal project towards the Autumn months.

I'm working on an alt. country album right now with various musicians around here, would hesitate to call it a solo project as I've got a band name, not using my own. Also been doing a metal/punk kinda thing for fun with some buddies. Kvelertak kinda thing I guess.

Recordings from a gig I played at ArraySpace on Tuesday, mine are the last two tracks: http://www.mediafire.com/?8juj5cu1d1ma4. Forgive the mediafire popups.

Been in Burning Caskets for a few years just took a break but got some shows lines up soon. We just got Chris from Invitation to Die in the band on Guitar, we were pretty much Deicide type Death Metal but now are leaning a bit towards Death/Thrash sorta stuff. If that even makes sense

also for about a year now I've been doing SEWER, Slam Brutal Death, really fun stuff to play. Just got Brian from Disgust in our ranks recently.

Got sick of renting and borrowing gear, bought an NT-1 today. Gonna track vocals possibly as early as tomorrow. i just don't want to do it in my apartment (something else I'm sick of).

I've been working on tremolo, down-picking and triplet exercises to a metronome so I can increase the strength in my right hand. I've been doing those for about 45mins everyday and can see some progress.

Looking for another part-time gig, can't commit to much, but if you're in the Hamilton area, and looking for a bassist, shoot me a PM

Vocal mic! I'm not quite ready to drop any cash on a new interface and frankly all this computer shit is getting really annoying, but a good mic is a good mic no matter what you stick it into.

This thread was a pretty cool idea.

Seems like I got caught up on the famous excuse for putting a halt into recording. Technical difficulties! Sucks when a primary piece of hardware breaks and you have to send it in to get fixed and you never know when it's going to be back. As a result, we've officially switched from recording mode to gig mode in hopes of spreading the word.

We are 'The Innocent Abandoned.' We are a progressive blues fusion metal band. Why such a crazy genre title? Cause there's so many elements going on in our material that we still can't quite come up with a 'genre' so-to-speak. I can say this though. We have enough grove and enough song structure to our songs to make it all work.

If you want to check us out, we will be at 460 College on June 29th, 2013. If there will be any fee at the door it would be no more than $5. We will be releasing our EP to everybody for free once we have completed recording. Constructive criticism is more than welcome!

\m/ \m/

P.S. if you would like to hear a sample of what we have been working on pm me and I'll be glad to get that out to who ever is interested.

Post Re: What are you up to right now as a musician?
Greetings everyone..Its been a long while since ive been on here..so a quick update..after i left The Exalted Piledriver , i reformed my old band RECKON WITH ONE..we released an ep called "Before the Storm" on Canada Day 2011, and are currently working on the full length album "Tornadic" which has been taking a while to finish, due to family issues, member change, and other unforseen things...but are close to completion. Last week we finished up filming some footage for our upcoming video for our first single from the album....Also me and the drummer are starting up another band, basically to get out there and start playing live again..RWO isnt going to hit the stage until the album is released and had a few months to get reviewed and promoted properlly. So in the mean time im looking for a bass player and a singer or a singing bass player/singing 2nd guitar player. Will be doing covers and some originals that we will write together..but mainly covers to start so we can get out there and start playing...if there is anyone interested on the board here, who lives in the Brampton area or close enough by car to commit to maybe 2 times a week practice and weekend gigs...contact me...oh and we will be doing Metal music.along with some classic stuff..melodic Metal..no cookie monster stuff....well thats about what im up to. Great thread by the way.
