Would like to bring some life to this section of the forum. What are you doing right now as a musician? Do you have any samples of pieces that you have been working on? What bands are you jamming with? Any interesting prospects for the future? Share!

It requires a rather in depth knowledge of integers that I don't possess.

My main musical priority right now is with the Lindsay Barr Band out of Peterborough. I don't even know how to describe our sound really...it's definitely Rock, but with bits of everything from Motown to punk thrown in there. We do the bar thing in our area, and run the central/southern Ontario circuit pretty steadily, as well as playing out east in St. John's for a bit, doing everything from corporately sponsored festivals:

To shit-show field parties full of rednecks and crust punks:

http://youtu.be/RxELx8Bq_JY

It's going really well, and she's a total pro as far as networking and the way she treats her bandmates. I'm pretty sure our trip out to St. John's put us pretty deep into the hole (thanks, CBTG's) but she always made sure we were looked after.

Besides that, I'm still doing the occasional studio session and live fill-in gig for people around the area, and that pads the wallet fairly nicely and gets my name out for more work. I miss playing brutal stuff a lot of the time, but I sure as hell don't miss every gig putting me into the red, as well as all the retarded man-children and ass-backward attitudes that (regrettably) come along with playing that sort of thing.

I have a few things going.

My "main" band is Birch Hill Dam. We're "stoner metal" I guess. Lots of CoC and Down-like grooves, lots of Sabbath, lots of Kyuss.
www.birchhilldam.com

I'm also doing a metal project with a prog-metal guitarist and a drummer who's played in a million bands (Unearth, Seemless, Shadows Fall, Kingdom of Sorrow, etc). We have about 8-10 songs in various states of finished and recorded a 3-song demo (no vocals) to find ourselves a singer. It's kind of a mix of Meshuggah and Pantera I guess? More groove than Meshuggah but lots of chuggy off-time stuff.

I also do a few tribute bands. I play in an Alice In Chains tribute, sometimes in a Thin Lizzy tribute and will be starting in on a Pantera tribute very soon.

You guys played CBTG's? Man the number of drunken nights I spent on that fucking deck :roll

Also, let me tell you how enjoyable it is watching you on that stage, seeing all those people who have no idea what kind of shit you usually listen to. In the second video you are even doing the power stance!

Focusing on Sylvus for the most part right now, and we're gearing up to record our first full-length this winter (finally). Playing Messe des Morts really lit a fire under my ass to get this thing in the can, but apparently my bandmates do this thing called "university" and it requires some effort. I'm also doing the folk/country thing with God Damn! You Mad Bootlegger but we haven't jammed much lately.

I've got a couple concepts bouncing around but nothing solid yet. I have plans for an ambient project collaborating with a friend from Austria and I want to start a death/thrash/doom band so long as I can find the right people to do it with. I have exactly one song written for another Misthelm record, which I really ought to work on more, but with very little interest and no real aim towards putting a live lineup together it's hard to get motivated.

Aside from my own things I've been doing some orchestration for other people, which is a lot of fun. Keyboards don't really suit anything I've got on the go but I really like arranging and so on, it's good to get back into it.

What did you do in Bootlegger? Guitar and singing?

More or less. I did a bunch of stuff on the recording like upright bass and percussion but nowadays I pretty much just play guitar and sing.

I finally finished up a couple songs of my solo/diy project, Gizzard Cubed. (https://soundcloud.com/gizzardcubed) Style's metal, fairly modern sounding. Maybe somewhere between melodic death and southern, lot of punk influence in there too.

Currently working on the next batch, only got the drums tracked so far.

Been playing on and off for the last 7 years. My most recent project (until Aug 2012) was the best and most fun. Went into the studio and released an album. Now, I'm in Germany. Studying. No time for music. Just practicing my chops at home.

Yeah, I hate it too but I've got no time to dedicate for a full time band. I've been trying to find musicians to casually jam with and have some fun. At least a drummer. But no success.

I'm working on the new Vesperia album 'An Olden Tale' with the rest of the band. We just finished up the bass, now editing and then guitars. Some free downloads of our last demo can be heard here:

http://www.vesperia.bandcamp.com

And besides playing for Crimson Shadows, SIG:AR:TYR and doing the various acoustic projects I've been working on, I have been working on score music with video games particularly in mind.

I'd definitely be curious to see if that would go anywhere. Check some stuff out here:

Had no idea you were working on the score music. It sounds good, especially the one with the Irish name. When the hell did you start playing for Crimson Shadows, anyway?

I'm almost ready to release my first album since 2006. The name is Nostril Caverns instead of Time of Death. The music is less extreme metal than my other albums, but the songwriting is more complex and there are still some extreme metal parts. It's a mix of rock/jazz/death metal where the riffs change a lot. Most of it is composed but some of it is improvised.
Here's a split-screen excerpt from one of the improv/free jazz/death metal songs:
http://youtu.be/vnHnHymrhyI

Last weekend a couple friends from Sudbury came down for my 30th bday and we recorded almost 4 hours of improv. Here's an excerpt from that:

Once I get my driver's license this year I hope to play live more often. Just gotta find musicians who wanna play the same music...

Still riffing out to myself! There is noone in my area that plays death or black metal that I can find ( plus work keeps me busy)! But always making up new riffs and shit.

I haven't actually ever finished that many songs because I haven't been in a band for several years, but heres some songs that I kinda of completed!

Yes, they are rough recordings and shitty drum programming. I'm no pro! But its still metal! Just posting to "bring some life back into the forum"!

Lucus lives in roseneath. don't know about black but death metal would be pretty up his alley.

also used to be a band from port hope called dimorian. all the members do some muskrat band now or some shit except for the drummer. been years since i've talked to the guy but he was a pretty good drummer. name was randy or something.

immrama brett used to live in port hope too. no idea if he still does or if whatever he's doing musically has improved any.

but maybe any of this is a starting point.
