That description is a whole lot of bullshit. Some dickhole at 20 Buck Spin probably felt really smart when he wrote it. I am picturing some smugdouche that wears skinny jeans and shirts from tours that happened a decade before he was born. He should be fired.

As for the album, I got it today. It delivers on the promise of the first album, and doesn't even approach being a let down. Anybody that likes a blend of traditional metal and doom should be all over this. To ignore it is to pose harder than the asshole that wrote that description. This shit is legit.

Some nice thrash/speed with the right amount of dirtiness. NOT a digipack release!

Group decision. Most of us like the look of digi's better, and we wanted to give a little extra for the few people who will still buy the physical release vs torrenting it.

It also still comes with a full sized booklet for those who don't like digits and would prefer to put it in a jewel case.

do you think jewel cases are made of titanium? Cds in jewel cases would have been destroyed as well with a damaged package like that.

most common problem is busted spokes on a cd and the occasional cracked case, with a jewel case they're easily replaceable, with a digi they're not. stop being obtuse.

I stopped giving a shit about packaging a long time ago. I don't care what the album is shipped in as long as all the songs are there. No bigger piss off than a copy with three songs missing because it's not "deluxe."

I get the spoke thing. In the past I'd just look for a cheap cd in a pawn shop that had the same tray as the broken one on my digi cd and replace it with a bit of glue.
Most people complain about digi's because they say the packaging wears out which is totally avoidable with a little thought and care.
I love digi's,they look better than cheap jewel case versions... especially the digi/media book packaging.

Obscure Devotion - Hanged on the Last Hope

This band has generally been a Thrashy Black Metal band, but this new EP (part of the full length coming soon) has some more DM sounding stuff. Always a good listen IMHO.

EURYNOMOS - EYE OF THE PANTHEON

Second EP from them this year, and if you didn't catch the previous one, UNCHAINED FROM THE CRYPT, I recommend you get both if you are into loud and dirty black/speed metal. Featuring Occulto (old DESASTER vocalist) this sounds like Iron Angel, early Razor, or the first Bathory album with the trademark black metal howls of Occulto on vocals. The guy really hasn't missed a beat since DESASTER's "Tyrants Of The Netherworld" back in 2000!

And here is the clip for the first EP, UNCHAINED FROM THE CRYPT, in case you missed it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCbRUwi1_-U

Didn't know they were still around, love that album they put out in the late 90's. The first track is killer:

Weird Fate are back with a new full length. I can't recommend their first full length enough, but I'm not sure how much traction it had in the underground (seek it out now if you are smart!). It would have ranked extremely high on my 2012 year end list had I not discovered it too late.

This one in sound follows what seems to be pretty popular these days with bands like Negative Plane, and the recent influx of bands from Iceland, following in the footsteps of Katharsis. It is for the most part a chaotic, labyrinthine record, and may lack a little of the atmosphere that made The Collapse of All That Has Been so amazing, and it is a fair bit shorter, but it's definitely solid enough to mention here for people to take note.

Blasphomet posted this a long while ago, and I only got around to checking out this band now... the 2012 album is stellar for sure, and this album is also pretty solid. Black Metal fans would do well to check this band out.

New Vastum, came out early in November. I have not heard much about it on here, but I know a lot of folks like their last album. I have only listened to this one three times, so I don't have a firm final opinion on it yet. It's probably their most filthy sounding work yet, a lot more murky sounding and raw than the last one. I like it, might make the year end list or might just be a good death metal album from a cool band.

The important thing is that you have now listened to The Collapse of All That Has Been

Billy Gibbons and the BMG's Perfectamundo

Stumbled upon this in Best Buy today. Sounds like ZZ Top Calypso style. It's funky, crunchy, poppy and bluesy all over the place.

A Forest of Stars - Beware the Sword You Cannot See

Listen here

Intriguing band, truly. Every time they release an album I am impressed, and find myself thinking they cannot possibly do better with a subsequent release. They surprise every time.

Fans of unusual Black Metal take heed. They are described as Psychedelic Black Metal. I believe I would agree with this to a point, but perhaps more so with earlier works.

Spectral Lore - Gnosis

Listen Here

I've listened to this for a few times now, and I believe that this latest work is Spectral Lore's best. Described as an "EP", this clocks in at 49 minutes, which isn't surprising considering the absurd playtime of Spectral Lore's full lengths. It's actually a point of contention for me, II and III are simply far too long and they wear out their welcome. This, however, is the perfect length, though I'd really consider this a full-length.

There are similarities to ANAEL's works here, most notably "From Arcane Fires", which to me is welcome to these ears.
