That Mgla record is for sure among the best records this year

This is Burst Command Til War we are talking about here, apparently she was the only one with enough balls to tell K.K. Warslut that Defiance was not as good of a record that everyone else said it was.

That being said, it only took one listen of the new Mgla before these thoughts popped in my head "I bet Burst Command Til War is not gonna like it".

The one they released before is equally amazing.

Which is why I knew she wouldn't like it.

With Hearts Towards None is tough to follow. I prefer it as well. Tracks I and III is some of the finest BM to exist. It's on a short list of albums that gave me an incredibly positive reaction immediately, and managed to sustain itself through repeated listens.

Exercises in Futility doesn't have that initial impact, it is more subtle and requires repeated listens to appreciate. It doesn't need to be better than WHTN, it's worthy in it's own right.

With Hearts was the first Mgla album we heard, so it couldn't have been a step down then now could it?! 8)

I agree with Vittra's assessment, and it will be in my list for sure this year.

Strangely, I found EIF to be a lot more immediate than WHTN. Maybe that's why BCTW doesn't like it?

Pretty much every single thing Mgla has done has been excellent. From Crushing the Holy Trinity to the EPs. Everything is excellent.

The possible excellence of this album shouldn't have even been debated before it's release!

With Hearts Towards None makes me want to go to Pier One Imports and pick out candles with my lady.
