BCTW can be proud--her push on this board got an unlikely band like Satan into the top five. Before she started talking about them, nobody gave a shit about what really is one of the most quality records out in recent years.

I bet Blassie's personal list doesn't even have one on the BB list. 'Cos, ya know, his taste in music is so interesting that the average metal head wouldn't like or understand it.

[troll]And I am happy to say that at least you guys didn't go Revolver and choose Sabbath as #1...but you're basically right there. Your top 2 albums are dB's #1 and Revolver's #1...

Hope you're happy folks...

Here are links to their subscription pages for you:

Even Eddie Trunk didn't have Sabbath in his top 5...[/troll]

[asshole]I fail to see why people liking certain albums is such a problem for others. Both of the top 2 albums obviously left enough of a impression on people that warranted them getting those slots.

Just because Nfoajsle Lnalke 'Det akldl Nallllooapn Malpaidlsla' didn't make it isn't a reason to get all upset over a year end's list.[/asshole]

I ended my troll up there, but in response: I have a hard time believing that those who placed it on their lists didn't do so out of nostalgia. I listened to the album, in its entirety, and found it to be long-winded and lacking in staying power. I'm curious if, a year from now, those people will still feel it's as good or if they will have it collecting dust on their iPhones...The fact that Revolver magazine, which I believe panders to the lowest common denominator, chose it #1 merely helps to bolster my belief that it's a crap album...

Carcass' new album was ok, but I only found a couple tracks on it to be of any real interest. the rest was almost "Carcass by numbers", IMHO. Again, I feel nostalgia pushed the ratings on that one, and dB magazine DEFINTELY plays favorites with their year-end lists, so that also bolsters my belief that is likley not as good as advertized.

Just my twenty cents.

 Yeah really. All it says is that ALOT of people liked those two albums, more than any other two. If it wasn't your favorite album of the year, that makes you better than someone else? Shheesshh

I didn't see that. Mine's now edited accordingly. :)

You might be right about the whole nostalgia thing having something to do with it but I'd argue that both those ranked so high mainly because many weren't expecting them to be as good as they were.

Remember all the hate thrown Sabbath's way months before the actual album came out? The shear amount of one-up-man-ship with regards to the slamming of an album that hadn't even come out yet was ridiculous. The same thing happened with Carcass.

The amount of back-peddling that happened afterwards was funny-as-hell, though.

On that Carcass album for sure. When Carcass dropped that first single, bitches be like "I mean, DAYUM! This shit is all brutal and shit. Sorry I was talkin' all dat shizznat, boyz!!"

I think the Sabbath haters were pretty steadfast in their boycott. I listened to the album mostly to confirm there was no way it could be as good as others were saying...

Well, let's see if you're right...

1. Satan - Life Sentence #4
2. The Ruins of Beverast - Blood Vaults - The Blazing Gospel of Heinrich Kramer #55
3. Cosmic Church - Ylistys #47
4. Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats - Mind Control #44
5. Summoning - Old Mornings Dawn #10
6. Àrsaidh - Roots #35
7. Inquisiton - Obscure Verses for the Multiverse #12

9. Sacriphyx - The Western Front #19
10. Christicide - Upheaval of the Soul DNP
11. Merkstave - Merkstave DNP
12. Nocturnal Graves - ...from the Bloodline of Cain #81
13. In Solitude - Sister #38
14. Irkallian Oracle - Grave Ekstasis DNP
15. Magic Circle - s/t #75

Well well well... looky there ^^^... it appears only three of my 2013 favourites didn't place, while five of your's didn't. Perhaps it is you that is the trve kvltster here. Oooorrrr, it's just a misunderstood, ill-informed attempt to troll me, which is usually the case. :)

However... I did somewhat slack this year. There are probably some pretty obscure gems I missed out on and thus, they didn't place.

At least now I can let out a huge sigh of relief that Life Sentence didn't finish out of the top 25... at that rate.

EDIT: Gris was at #100 and now it's Beastmilk, so I guess I have four that didn't place.

-----

I'll include these as well, for headquake to take a gander at... here is my list of albums that didn't place:

Omitted (but would have placed) by myself due to extenuating circumstances:

Pasyage d'Hiver - Das Tor (demo) DNP
Krownn - Hyborian Age (EP) DNP
Beastmilk - Climax (non-metal, post-punk/new wave styled rock which drawn from many influences) #100 (this was Gris, but now it seems to have changed on the list.

Honourable Mentions:

Portal - Vexvovoid (It's Portal) #40
Purson - The Circle and the Blue Door (tripped out modern occult classic psyche rock that differs that differs from their peers) #71
Atlantean Kodex - The White Goddess (it's grown on me enough to mention it) #8
Antediluvian - λόγος (devastatingly claustrophobic.. summoning a bit of Portal) DNP
Darkthrone - The Underground Resistance (NOT fun) #6
Manilla Road - Mysterium (lots of solid material from a band seemingly in their twilight years) DNP
Blood Ceremony - The Eldritch Dark (get baked… there's flute) #23
A.M.S.G. - Anti-Cosmic Tyranny (get prepared… there's saxophone) DNP
Emyn Muil - Túrin Turambar Dagnir Glaurunga (there's Tolkien) DNP
Intoxicated - Rock n Roll Hell Patrol (beer drenched, hotboxed sex metal… get wrecked) DNP
Caladan Brood - Echoes of Battle (there's The Malazan Book of the Fallen) #51
White Medal - Guthmers Hahl (nice pagan styled black metal from England) DNP
