I don't want to Russian to any collusion here but I'm going out on a limb and say this administration isn't exactly on the up and up.

You are correct. It's not illegal, but that's one of those where judging by how it's treated, it might as well be, considering that Russia is treated as an enemy country in every respect except officially calling it one. Russia's interests are considered illegitimate, whereas others are given an aura of legitimacy which they definitely do not deserve. And that determines how much leeway they have to influence politics inside the US.

As it stands today, those unwritten rules are:

Rule 1: Meeting a Russian lobbyist = PRACTICALLY TREASON ! Nothing good can come out of normalized relations with Russia, and the very idea of not picking fights with them is considered taboo.

Rule 2: Meeting with Israelis or Saudis, bowing down to their lobbyists and swearing that America's policies shall forever serve their interests (above even its own) = PATRIOTISM ! Whatever those two powers want is what the USA shall provide, and to question the strategic wisdom of this is the worst form of heresy.

The above rules of Deep State orthodoxy usually apply to the Republicans even more than they do to the Democrats.

And it is only the immediate need for supportive partisan rhetoric that has the GOP supporters asking why breaking rule #1 is any worse than breaking rule #2.

Did they ever ask before why some countries' influence/interference in elections is bad, while the others are good? Nope.

The question of who is "allowed" to have influence is legitimate, though, and needs to be asked by US citizens more often.

Looks like Obamacare will still be giving the finger to the orange fascist goblin and his vodka swilling vampire cronies for now.

The only thing they're going to be passing is the articles of impeachment.

This in and of itself wouldn't be a big deal were it not for the current Russophobic atmosphere in Washington. World leaders do this all the time

No doubt.

The media just can't help themselves but to generate news even where there isn't any.

Trump talking to Putin after the big dinner at a major global event is a "secret meeting"; but the Attorney General meeting Bill Clinton on a tarmac is called a "private meeting".

No wonder Steve Bannon refers to the media as the "opposition party" - they are working way harder at attacking and opposing President Trump than the Democrats are. We are now at the point where Trump talking to a world leader at a world leader summit is a major scandal to the media.

Supporting Israeli boycotts could become a felony soon, joining a range of Western countries who incessantly protect Israel from genocide, land theft and a wide range of well documented internationally criminal activities, including crimes against humanity.

Yes. You really should take the opinion of a woman beating, white supremacist about anything seriously. He's a fucking abominable human being so no wonder he's in the Trump White House.

The free press is meant to question the actions of their leaders. But holy shit they are totally the enemy when they make President Piss Party look like the inept and corrupt motherfucker that he is.

Yeah I was gonna post that one too at lunch then got distracted by hot chicks.

Confirms, along with Schumers bill to wrap Israel in another layer of bubble wrap, that Democrats are shit.

First thing Trump has done that I have been in total agreement with: cut that stupid CIA program to fund moderate rebels.

It's nauseating wading through the news articles over the last couple of days watching everyone jump up and down and cry about this move, but all of these people ultimately have amnesia.

I DISTINCTLY remember that Russia's intervention didn't come at a time when the USA was having a strong hand. In merely days prior to the Moscow stepping into Syria, there were 2 EMBARRASSING events and revelations:

a) this CIA program produced only a handful of fighters, i.e. around 60. They couldn't produce any more because they couldn't vet any more... too many had intricate ties with jihadist elements, something that Russia has been claiming all along, and

b) an entire Free Syrian Army faction that just received a massive arms shipment of the latest and greatest US arms simply surrendered to Al Nusrah (Al Qaeda) and gave them all of their weapons

So to hear Pompeo wax about how everything was going well before the Russians came in, this guy is either lying through his teeth OR the United States was always the sponsor of all this international jihad in the first place. None of these scenarios seem implausible to me at this point, and my disgust widens.

THIS is why Trump won the election - lots of fence sitting swing voters perceive this government-wide deception, albeit at a subconscious level (perhaps they cannot articulate EXACTLY why they feel this way), and Trump being the (very imperfect) outsider was supposed to clean up all this crap. We shall see just how much he actually does
