The bad news: Scott's not on the album which is a dealbreaker for a lot of folks

The good news: TLT did the drums, and while he doesn't hit like Scott can (hint: no one does), it's close enough to what you expect QR drumming to be.

The better news: HOLY SHIT does TLT hit some notes. Greatest swinger switch ever.

The last two have been solid as hell. It's obvious that Tate was the dead weight in that band and as soon as they cut him they started to write good songs again.

Looking forward to this album a lot. I hope they can really up their game and take the songs back even more than the last two.

TLT is fucking unreal.

I'm looking forward to this. The last two albums really surprised me. I still hate that they've lost another "classic" member, but I guess I don't mind too much as long as the music is good.

I don't think Wilton and Jackson ever stopped writing good, songs, it's just that they didn't make it onto the later Tate albums. Geoff and his wife insisted on using outside writers, just like for the Operation Mindcrime band albums. So the rest of the band had a backlog of riffs and ideas to tap into once they were in control again.

TLT is a drummer who sings, at least that was his most of his career pre-Ryche. In concert, I hope they keep using Casey Grillo. He's very good, and at least close to as good as Rockenfield.

Has Rockenfield left the band? I thought he had "family problems" or something along those lines.

I think the first S/T with TLT was great but the next was very average. Still better than everything after Promised Land though. I will definitely check the new one out. And of course, Ryche bring the rain live. Sound fantastic on the stage.

Both albums started strong and faded hard after three songs. Karaoke Todd has done an excellent job cloning Tate's voice, no doubt about it.

TLT is awesome and the last two Ryche lps were the best since Promised Land.

As far as anyone's said he's still on hiatus and hasn't left the band, though at this point it seems fairly obvious he won't be back. Such a shame with all the effort he, Wilton, and Jackson put in to getting the band back on track to rebuild the fan base.

Condition: Human was pretty boss. I stuck with the 'Ryche even after getting into their music in the late 80's. TLT keeps the momentum of Geoff Tate going. Curious to his work on the new album if he's also doubling on drumming duties too.

They're essentially a tribute band now, but one that writes songs that are vaguely Queensryche-ish.

When a band's two most important songwriters are gone IT'S OVER.

People talk about Geoff Tate leaving and he was key but the classic sound was all Chris DeGarmo.

Disagree, Tate's voice was unique and wonderful when he was in his prime. It was a big draw to the early stuff. Even if the band wrote average songs they could have become big because of him. Tate is a fucking clown now though, and a shell of his classic self. Fuck that guy, and even though I don't care to listen to it I am happy that the rest of the band gets to do their thing with out that idiot.

Tate didn't really write music, DeGarmo wrote around 60% of the music, with Wilton writing most of the rest and Jackson contributing. Wilton is still writing music (and still hangs out with DeGarmo sometimes, when Wilton is touring and DeGarmo isn't being a pilot).

Tate wrote lyrics, and contributed to arrangements. Wilton wrote the music to classic songs such as The Needle Lies, Speak, Spreading the Disease, and Revolution calling, not DeGarmo. And the boring Promised Land was overwhelmingly written by DeGarmo. My point is not to undervalue Wilton's contributions, then and now.

Don't get me wrong, classic Tate was unfuckabale and among my fav singers of all time but I associate DeGarmo and definitely Wilton with a lot of Queensryche's best music. Tate hung around a lot longer to drive the music to the ground unfortunately so my opinion of him is shit.

There's a reason they ignore the stuff between Empire and the 2013 S/T with Todd, 90-99% of it is garbage.

How'd it go when Chris wrote an album? Hear In The Now Frontier and the worst parts of Promised Land. Yeah, I want more of that shit show.

Have you heard his post-QR group? Here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCdLL0MiI30. Not even Alice In Chains' rhythm section could save it.

And we've all seen what happened when Tate decided he's only use songs he got from outside writers.

Wilton's the man. He's a god based on that Speak riff alone. :shred:

Song is good Hard Rock. Hopefully the rest of the album will improve upon this.

Pretty generic, so-so tune but vocals sounds good. He's not Tate but he's close.

I likethe new song, it has a bit of the really early QR feeling. I mean The Warning era, not Mindcrime. And TLT sounds solid on the drums, besides his great vocals.
