Basically, which bands do you know virtually everything about. As in you can name the lineup in every album, tracklist/label of every album, most lyrics, extensive background stuff, all that kind of shit.

If there's one band that I'm pretty sure I'd be able to answer every question about, it's Slayer. Otherwise I'm not that heavily knowledgeable of even my favorite bands.

Merzbow
Frank Zappa
Darkthrone
Napalm Death
John Coltrane

In that order

I would be pretty impressed with someone who could name all the tracks on every ND album.

Easily Iron Maiden for me, embarrassingly so sometimes.

I can't do that! I'm easily fascinated by bands with extensive discographies and I just like being obssessed with some of those bands/artists, especially when they go through some stylistic developments of the course of their many releases, so that I have something that I can get deeply into.
Often being obssessed by a certain band/artist is just a phase (sometimes longer, sometimes shorter), but with the above mentioned bands/artists it's always been at least a decade or two and I know I'll never grow tired of exploring their discographies.
EDIT I'd consider myself a historian (I actually studied history!) of those bands, but for me that does not necessarily mean I know ALL the lyrics or songtitles by heart, that's just not what being a historian is about (for me).

Wouldn't be 100%, but I'd do well with Phish.

Otherwise, not enough overall attention to detail paid by me.

Googy on the lappy.

It's only right if you pronounce the word as "istorian" instead of "historian". Otherwise, it's wrong.

I try to be as encyclopedic as I can with all of the bands I listen to but the one I could reference without fact-checking anything would probably be GWAR.

I've never been able to name songs, but I would consider myself an historian of hate forest, Drudkh, Windir and Summoning.
