I don't immediately hear it myself. Then again I've heard "Old Time..." more often than I've heard "Katmandu" so there could be some bias on my end there.

Gaslight Anthem uses that line in a wonderful nod to Seger in "Great Expectations".

70's Seger, yes. "Old Time Rock 'N Roll" was dull movie soundtrack music at best from '83 and plays like a forced country song. Even when I heard it at school dances back in the day it sounded old. And it still does.

I remember years ago, someone once said on "Old Time Rock and Roll" here, "If Grampa Simpson wrote a rock song, it would be this one."

So easy to eliminate the awful awful awful "Pour Some Sugar on Me". But close behind it for sheer crappiness is "Dude Looks Like a Lady".

Late '60s/early '70s Seger is decent rock.

Bachman Turner Overdrive from that list.

If I could extinguish 'Boys in the Bright White Sportscar" from the classic rock repertoire, I would. Such a godawful song.

I'll take his version of the stupid ass country version that came out a few years back. That gets ton more play in these parts.

I could live without ever hearing any of those on the radio again. I need to think about which one is played out more. Thank fuck for the Volume on Sirius (ch 106) which is a music talk channel- especially Debatable with original MTV VJ Mark Goodman and writer Alan Light. . . no, this isn't a paid advertisement

I like Van Halen with DLR, but this is definitely the weakest original they had done up to that point, and it was also the song that hinted at the Sammy era the most

Thank you! I've been saying for years 5150 and the rest of the Sammy era were a natural progression from where they were headed on 1984. It's not like Eddie ever shied away from pop music- I've read countless interviews with him where he never saw the problem with having mainstream, commercial, songs.

My vote went for Jump. . . mainly because 1984 is one of the last VH records I reach for when I need a fix. Usually that's Fair Warning or FUCK. . . and now that I think about it I haven't spun WACF in a while. Time to remedy that right now.

Without the Sweet Child O Mine option, Aerosmith no hesitation. One of the worst songs ever written. Fuck that useless band.

"Shakedown" from the Beverly Hills Cop II soundtrack every day over "Old Time Yawn 'N Snore".
