Wondering if there will be a Briefcasefest this year. It's usually around this time of year. Perhaps just coming later in year?

What's up, Ingenting?

The festival was laid to rest. The announcement was made shortly after the last one I believe. Maybe even before it?

Aw, man! Too bad. Saw some great bands outta that. The back to back Forteresse/Monarque sets in, I think, 2016, might've been one of my favourite 2ish hours of live metal, ever.

RIP, Briefcasefest.

Add to that Deletere before those two. Legend night. It went a bit late though and had to miss the end of the Forteresse set so I could catch the last bus east. Ah well, wasn't the fist time and won't be the last time I see Forteresse. I hope.

Yeah, I usually like to film my videos outdoors, but the weather was rainy, so I thought I'd film it indoors instead.

If you dig "The Trooper" I highly reccomend the last 20 minutes of the 60s war film "Charge of the Light Brigade". The whole movie lampoons the British army's ineptitude up until the final charge where they get ripped to pieces and ends with the credits rolling over a still shot of a horse with it's head blown off.

Thumbs up. Will watch again.

MDF has taught me one thing: Toronto crowds are a bunch of passive fucking pussies. Baltimore knows how to throw down and have a good time!

To be fair Toronto doesn't have a festival to get super pumped up about.

MDF taught me another thing: atmospheric black metal is lifeless and boring live. It works on the records, but I would rather watch paint dry than watch that shit live.

I think it really depends on the venue. If it's too big and open it doesn't work. In 2009 Naxzul played MDF......... at 3pm outside in broad daylight. Talk about a ruined atmosphere.

I feel like a lot of BM doesn't need to be/shouldn't be played live.

I'm obviously not a BM aficionado, but it does seem like the atmosphere achieved in the studio might be pretty tough to duplicate live, more so than other genres.
