Hopesfall at the Dungeon in Oshawa. One of the only post-hardcore type bands I dug. There were like 10 people there. The vocalist looked like he a fucking drugged out wreck. The band broke up mid-tour.

It's kind of a shame because that was a tour for their last album, Magnetic North, which I thought was a really great rock album.

Checking wiki... looks like they've recently re-formed.

When I saw Mayhem in 2001 it had maybe 50 people in attendance. Too bad for the people who missed it because it was legendary.

Cannibal Corpse in town in 2000 or so had only a couple dozen show up.

This topic just makes me cringe knowing how bands must feel playing in front of nobody some nights. And sometimes that date or night is just really a bad night of the week or other shit is going on.

Most good shows are pretty well attended here but Rotting Christ for 40 or so people really bothered me most. They deserve so much better.

Castle....playing on a Monday that was also Canadian Thanksgiving in downtown Fredericton. I think the crowd was a dozen folks at best.

The funny part is that we apparently bought more merch than the other places on the weekend and drank enough beer that both the band and the venue welcomed them back 2 years later to about twice as many folks on another Monday night. Hopefully we'll see them back as merch sales seemed strong that night as well. Band was excellent both times, no sense of quit and seemed to delight in winning over some new fans.....that more bands could be like this would be awesome. :)

Post Re: Worst attended concert....
I'm going to exclude shows at small bars/venues because while there may only be 30 people in attendance it makes for a decent crowd when the whole place only holds 50-75.

Saw Cult of Luna several years ago with Katatonia with about 250 people max in a venue that holds close to 2500. It was sparse but CoL were fucking incredible. Stood in the middle of the floor with a buddy and chain smoked joints their whole set. One of the best live performances I've ever seen.

Back in like 2008-ish I saw Rotting Christ, Immolation, Belphegor, and Averse Sefira with like 50 people. But it was a weekday and there was a gnarly snowstorm all day so it kind of gets a pass. Show ruled though. Missed almost all of Averse Sefira but everyone else killed, and all the bands were super appreciative of everyone that showed up. Met Ross Dolan for the first time. Spent close to 3 hours driving home. Worth it.

Saw Incantation playing to maybe 10 people, if you don’t count the local opening bands. This town sucks for metal turnout.

Children of Bodom. Totally sucked live. They had a terrible setlist, took 3-4 minutes in between each song which totally broke the mood, and Alexi was drunk off his ass. Really unfortunate.

Was this at the Kool Haus? Exact thing I was gonna post.

Woods od Ypres came through Seattle and they basically played for maybe 10 to 15 people. I had seen them once before in Portland where the turnout was much better so I couldn’t believe the difference.

I attended an ION DISSONANCE show back when they just started out that must've had less than a dozen people. Not my kind of music so it wasn't particularly memorable, but they were energetic despite the turnout.

Green Carnation at the Mod Club in Toronto. Venue allows 600+. There were probably 30-40 people in attendance.

Worst attended I've ever heard of was behemoth playing for the other bands on the bill and one other person in the soo

Worst attended I've been to was probably a smaller time band or something, and again likely in Sudbury

Worst show I've ever attended was the unholy alliance tour in 04, only band that wasn't total shit was lamb of god. COB were one of the worst sounding live bands ive ever seen and i haven't been able to enjoy Slayer since then.

Today Is The Day on the tour for (I think) Live Till You Die. I'm not sure how many people were there, but it can't have been more than 15-20.

Metallica/The Cult in Bismarck, ND in 1989
Alice Cooper/Tesla in Bismarck, ND in 1987

I think the Civic Center held about 9,000 at that time and both shows had about 2,000 people-- that is a lot of floor space and open seats.

I saw Virgin Steele at Jaxx back in like 2002 and I don't think there were more than 30 people in the building - including club employees and opening bands. No clue how they were booked there or why, but the band didn't seem to care and it remains one of the most amazing shows I've ever seen.

I saw Candlemass and Atheist at a small venue in Brockton, Massachusetts on a rainy night back in January 1991 - maybe 40-50 in attendance. This was ~3 weeks prior to the accident that killed Roger Patterson (Atheist bassist).

Both bands were great that night. My friend accidentally unplugged Lars Johansson's guitar right in the middle of an epic solo and it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Lars rolled his eyes and yelled VAT THE FACK! while giving my friend the dagger eyes. After their set we were in the bathroom - Lars walks in, takes a look at my friend and yells YOO UNPLUGGED MY AMP, MATHERFACKER! and proceeded to mock strangle him. Then we left the venue and spoke with Messiah outside their tour bus. He was wearing an Adidas track suit and a backwards ball cap. Bizarre.

Oh god, same here. Except in Toronto, there maybe weren't even that many. Maximum like 8-10, and everyone was a Polish skinhead except for myself and my Greek friend
