My most incredible, fascinating, fun and memorable concert (for all kinds of reasons beyond musicianship and musicality) with the lowest attendance was Woods of Ypres in Sussex NB. Maybe 20 ppl left by the time Woods got on stage? Chatted with Gold briefly who knew Corvidae.

He passed away tragically later that year, won a Juno, became a legend.

Metallica, every time I've seen them there were big chunks of the show where I had no idea what song I was hearing. Which is bad news considering how many of their songs are iconic as fvk. Last time I saw them I think Godsmack were supporting them, and although Godsmack had worse stage presence, the sound quality was miles better than Metallica's, all but eliminating the possibility that the venue was to blame. Also, their singer is a drummer so they'd do this dual drum solo thing that was kinda neat even if the drumming itself was fairly pedestrian.

Worst concert?

Bands I was excited to see:
Children of Bodom. Totally sucked live. They had a terrible setlist, took 3-4 minutes in between each song which totally broke the mood, and Alexi was drunk off his ass. Really unfortunate.

Incantation. I'm willing to blame these guys' performance on a mid tour slump. They seemed tired, just played song after song with now energy. But worst of all the venue left the house lights on the whole time. It was bizarre and really ruined the vibe. Also they were (relatively) quiet, so you couldn't really get into it. They were totally overshadowed by Marduk who stole the show that night.

Black Dahlia Murder. Again, I'd give these guys another shot. The show was giving me a headache because the mix on these guys was so bad. All I heard was bass drum and feedback. Even during the guitar solos I only heard little bits. No bass, no rhythm guitar, not even very much cymbal. Just feedback and drums. Vocals were muddy but I guess they kinda came through. Overall just hurt my head and was frustrating because I couldn't pick any songs out.

Bands that were on a lineup that I DIDNT want to see:
HELLYEAH!: Holy fuck this band is awful. Like, I don't even want to relive the memory of this show. I saw these guys on a festival cram packed between King Diamond and Slayer, so naturally they had a lot to live up to. Aside from the terrible music and mediocre performance, the worst part was the singer (don't give a fuck about his name) kept saying shit like "this one's for Dimebag, he's watchin over us tonight" (because Vinnie Paul plays in HellYeah) or "give it up for Dimebag Darrel! I bet he's smokin up a big one in hell for HellYeah!" All this became annoying VERY fast but EVEN WORSE. When he started saying "You know who else is watching us from hell? Jeff Hanneman! Jeff is pouring one out for your boys in HellYeah tonight so let's give him a hand". And dumb shit like that. First off, this all felt very disrespectful and idk, it just drove me insane. No one see this band, please. For your own good.

What I find funny about this thread is that the OP's title can be interpreted in different ways, and we're getting wildly different answers, lol

Lowest turnout goes to Janet Gardner. 12 people in a club that seats 180. She didn’t half ass her performance though. She even joked about the turnout a couple of times.

Worst show was Marty Friedman/Scale the Summit/The Fine Constant. Friedman’s set was great but the two openers were both boring as fuck. Two bands doing instrumental prog metal where their guitarists just stood there and noodled away without anything resembling showmanship. And the one time the woman who fronts The Fine Constant did try to engage the crowd her mic wasn’t turned on. Every song sounded the same after awhile. Just dreadful.

assuming the OP is asking about the turnout of the crowd, I'd guess it would be the Scorpions at New York's Jones Beach Ampitheater 4 or 5 years ago. I believe the venue's capacity is ~10k. the scorps seemed to have drawn about 1/3 of that. I've been to that venue more times than I can count and it's always packed.....except that one night.

Of course, the band kicked ass as they always do live (even in recent years). they're just a great live band.

The first time I saw Slough Feg ( opening for Agalloch ) there was only like five people there. Agalloch or later and the place filled.

I've been to a ton of shows with really low attendance, but the prize-winner is Macabre. I watched them with 3 other people. It was awkward as hell, but they still gave it their all.

Saw Murphy's Law in '05 or '06,less than 20 people in attendace.Jimmy had two cases of 24 on stage and was handing it out like candy.

on a slightly bigger scale, saw Angra in front of around 200 people in a venue that held about 10x that.

Maybe Ludicra on that last tour. I don't remember how many people were there, but I remember feeling bad for them. They deserved more.

For me it was La Guns/Black N Blue on a Thursday night back in 2003-04. About 50 people, was a rocking show, all things considered :guitar: 8)

I think Devil meant the lowest turnout attendance wise for a fairly big name band.

I saw Flotz about 15 years ago at a club in Corona, CA and I want to say there was about 75-80 people.

I remember seeing Helstar/Guy Mann Dude at the Country Club in Reseda, CA and there might have been 60 people from what I remember. That was about 25 years ago.

I saw Immolation in the early 00's and there were maybe 20 people there. The band played like champs though. Saw Sheer Terror and Tree in the mid 90's and I think there were 5 people there. Two of them were with me.

Where was it held in Sussex? Went to high school there (25+ years ago!)...
