Post Brutal Death Metal (poss NSFW)
Yes I know that this genre, if it can even be called a genre, gets laughed at a lot and trust me, I'm fully aware at how samey it is. But I do get an itch for this stuff sometimes and I don't know exactly how to describe "brutal", it's just another one of those things that I know it when I hear it. It doesn't have to be "slammy" or "squealy" though I don't really have a problem with those either, I just prefer the more straightforward brutal death.

I think if you're a death metal fan in general, you'd like some of this. For starters, Deeds of Flesh deserves a lot of respect and notoriety for probably doing the "brutal" thing before anyone else, and they started Unique Leader Records.

Path of the Weakening is a fucking monster of an album. :m:

I'm a fan of all of the bands above. I basically prefer bands in the vein of Suffocation, Severed Savior, and Gorgasm, but I enjoy most of the different offshoots of the sub-genre. Stuff with a more deathcore or slam bent to it ranks near the bottom for me, but there are still tons of good bands that fall into those categories. I really don't have any problem with deathcore or slam, it's just not my main preference. It sounds like we have a pretty similar outlook, except I have a much stronger preference for the tech stuff than you do. :shred:

It seems like most people on teh interwebs don't agree, but I think Conceived in Sewage is the best Devourment album.

It's not the craziest opinion but Molesting is still my favorite. I heard it first too.

Stabwound Orgasm  Is Beheaded Brutal Death Metal? I like Kadath, nobody remembers them. Fields will do well in this thread.

He needs to do another YT video and dedicate it to this. I even watch his videos on bands I don't listen to. :)

I recommend Visceral Disgorge if you like big, stupid grooves mixed in with your BDM. It's super catchy and well done. At first it will all sound the same, but that will change with repeated listens. They're totally killer live too.

Pretty catchy stuff for this style. I've seen them live, it's actually just one guy and he plays by himself on stage.

I dig some Insidious Decrepancy. I actually prefer it to Viral Load. I've seen him a few times under various names. I believe he has to perform as Shawn Whitaker now due to some kind of dispute with Brutal Bands. So the Insidious Decrepancy name is retired.

Those one man bands are awkward to watch live. I've seen Bloodsoaked and Putrid Pile several times too. They've all done a good job and sounded great, it's just weird not seeing a full band on the stage.

It definitely cracked me up. He was setting everything up and I kept thinking, damn it'll be a while before they since the rest of the band isn't even doing anything. Then he picked up the guitar and told the sound guy he was ready. I'm thinking, huh? He's a funny guy too. Talked to him for a while afterward.

I think they're a lot better live than on disc. But I haven't listened to them in a while.

Oh yeah. Inhuman Grotesqueries is my favorite. :guitar: They love pinch harmonics more than Zakk Wylde. They're more tasteful with it though.

Some of their albums are.

The newest album, Beast Incarnate, doesn't fit the bill. Good album, though.
