Post graves era misfits.
i always feel like these albums get a bum rap since they're not true danzig misfits.

taken on their own they're both fun, catchy punk rock with some pretty memorable choruses. sure his vox are kinda maudlin and there's no shortage of cheese but i think they get unfairly slandered.

the jerry fronted stuff is just garbage though.

Famous Monsters is just so-so, but American Psycho? Hooooly shit does that album rule! On par with any Danzig stuff for me.

Agreed!

American Psycho is great stuff. I don't know if I could say that I'd put it on par with the classic era, but I really fucking dig it a lot.

I wish they did more with Graves.

Seen 'em live with Graves in Ottawa and in TO- great set- tons of energy. Was gonna see 'em a 3rd time with Graves but he could't get into Canada ( due to a assault beef I think it was?) so they had the singer from IGNITE fly up to fill in at last moment. He did a great job considering. On the way home from that gig on the 401 my driver fell asleep for a second- almost hit the divider going a nice 130 then decided its time to pull over. We stopped at a truck stop just outside of the GTA- while smoking outside the truck stop the Misfits tour vans started pouring in. The 4 of us all thought- noway! It can't be! Sure enough, it was the Misfits just behind them. Nice guys. We ate dinner with 'em and they seemed to like to talk mainly about wrestling- as that was around the time they were involved with WCW and JCW.

Almost saw 'em a 4th time at the Phoenix in TO. Snuck in the back door with a bud, he got in ok I got busted by security and said " i'll leave- just don't punch me for not eing able to afford cover for a punk gig" Funny enough my dear friend Spider RIP was at the gig- I could of easily gotten in for free if I entered with him as thats just the way thig went with him.

Saw Graves solo, he was ok.

Not really familiar with his work in Misfits besides the ''hits''

How long ago did you see Graves? Was it his "grungy" sounding era?

I've heard other people say this but I honestly don't see any difference in the two albums sound or quality wise.

Songs on Famous Monsters just aren’t as good.you could tell they were coasting after putting all their efforts on American Psycho.plus, as mentioned above, this was the time where they were putting more of their energies into Wrestling.

I love Graves era Misfits! I find the songs to be energetic catchy and just fun to listen to. It's different than Danzig erase but it's damn good!

I got to see his solo live and it was great to hear him do his misfits erase live!

I like the Graves era stuff. American Psycho got a lot of play at the time. Might have to revisit soon.
