Post Rob Flynn throws a hissy fit
Thanks to ARSEFACE's Facebook posts, I discovered this.

It's truly embarrassing to see a supposed metal musician react like this, on a negative review of their new record (and one that is inexcusably a return to the nu-metal era of the band). The parts in Italics is Rob Flynn himself, acting life a 5 year old

Quote:
DECIBEL MAGAZINE SLAMS "CATHARSIS"!
The former-Decibel cover stars new album gets called "juvenile", "stupid", "endlessly pummeling" and a "Super Collider-level-miss".

Oh, and hey... FUCK YOU Jeff Treppel!!

Read the entire review below:

------------------

MACHINE HEAD - CATHARSIS

EVERYTHING OLD IS NÜ AGAIN - by Jeff Treppel

Let’s just tear off this Band-Aid:

The new Machine Head is a 74-minute rap metal album with a song that sounds like the Dropkick Murphys in the middle. Maybe Robb Flynn really misses the late 90’s (although, let’s be honest who doesn’t these days)? Maybe, after a decade of ridiculously great progressive groove metal records, Flynn decided to blow off some steam by going back to "The Bleeding Red’s" knuckle-dragging simplicity?

The frustrating thing about Catharsis is that Machine Head are great even when they’re making bad music. The Soulfly tribal breakdowns on “Volatile,” the drop tuning on “Beyond The Pale,” the whiteboy hip-hop of “Triple Beam” (nothing more “street” than gymnastics metaphors), the anti-gentrification screed “California Bleeding” –they’re effective in the same primal way that the best Rage Against The Machine and Korn hits were back in the day. None of it feels half-assed; these are clearly well-crafted songs.

It’s all just so stupid.

As intermittently satisfying as the nu-metal approach may be, Flynn and his bandmates have proven themselves more than capable of expressing their rage articulately. This feels juvenile from dudes pushing 50. There are certainly some interesting parts mixed in; unfortunately, with 15 songs, any nuances get lost in the endless pummeling.

Frankly, I’m baffled. This is a "Super-Collider"-level miss from a band that seemed to have ditched this phase long ago.

"Catharsis" drops Jan. 26th

What do you think?

For some great hilarity, you really should visit their FB page to this original post to see his fan base turn on him. Comments are A++ gold

Are those reviews actually accurate to how this album sounds? Does he really rap again?

I've not heard more than a few notes since the debut. they were marginal then and, i assume, only worse since. (Violence was overrated, too. sorry, had to say it.)

The only good album was their debut, didn't care for anything after that.
Robb was, is and will always be a trend hopper.

Hissy fits are a trend now, so yeah, this makes sense.

I am soft on their nu metal era even and everything I've heard off this record has been very weak. Feels like they have been gradually losing focus with each album past The Blackening

Machine Head is a classic album from Deep Purple. That's all I need to know.

x1,000,000

Burn My Eyes is a fucking classic metal album. Nothing else has ever come close to that.

Flynn is a twat. A whoring profiteer. Total cornball. I heard those new tracks just out of morbid curiosity and they're just as bad as you'd think... if not worse. Band is pure garbage. Shame because there's so much Vio-Lence royalty in that band.

Hopefully Flynn will end up on the back of a milk carton.

The worst part is that I love a ton of his music. Dude is cruising to being the Dave Mustaine of a new generation, but without the influence.

I’ll give the new album a listen because I’m a big fan, although, the new tune I heard was atrocious.

So Flynn's hilarity aside, the two songs I've heard from this so far are pretty... not good.

I'm glad I heard these two songs. I just saved myself ten bucks on a bad record.
