Post The BraveBoard's Best Album Post-1990 Debut Bracket!
http://challonge.com/braveboard1990

And here's the list! 128 albums enter: only ONE will win! All albums are from bands whose debut LP was released in 1990 or later.

For the next 32 weeks, I'll be posting 4 polls every week. The polls will run Tuesday-Tuesday from when I post them to when they close (so starting anywhere between 7:00am EST to 9:00am EST and finishing around the same times). I inputted the list of the 128 albums into Challonge and then randomized the bracket multiple times. I had no say which album goes up against another.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who submitted albums. The initial list was incredibly large. It started with well-over 500 albums so I had my work cut out for me.

For full transparency, the way I decided upon albums for the list was to go to Metal-Archives and work off of reviews. If the album received a score below 80%, I made a judgment call on whether or not to remove the album. If you've submitted two albums from the same band and only see one on the list, it’s because of Metal-Archives, not because I favored the album over the other. It pained me to remove a lot of albums from this list, but I had to cut it down to 128 albums.

If you did submit an album and their Metal-Archives review of the album was above 80%, the reason why I removed the album was because I made a judgment based on the chances of them winning in this bracket on the BraveBoard (sorry Sabaton). It ultimately was done to make things more interesting and not have huge sweeps. There are also the odd below-80% albums in the list that I thought would have a chance if they competed. But I think 59% is the lowest scoring album on this list, and it's few and far-between.

I left some bands with two albums because of their impact to their respective genres and metal as a whole. That's why bands like Cannibal Corpse, Darkthrone, and Emperor get two album spots. So that's that.

When the new polls are posted, I’ll note them in here.

May the best album win!

... I feel that somehow the winner will still be Iron Maiden.

first and foremost, thanks so much for doing this OP, great job

secondly, how did the most criticized Woods album end up being the only one to make the cut? I don't even remember anyone submitting that on their lists. it's gonna get killed

lastly,

Quote:
Wintersun - Wintersun
Moonsorrow - kivenkantaja

oh for fuck sake, two albums that could have easily won the whole thing for me and they're matched up first round??? fuuuuuck :byhatw:

There's a few tough ones too. There will also be many where I won't give a shit because I don't care for either band so I can vote for people's preference if they want.

Thanks for doing this....should be fun

There's lots of crap that I don't care for so most of the voting will be easy for me....except for a few "tear my hair out" battles. I foresee much listening to help me pick my choices...perhaps I'll even be surprised with a new band or two to dig into.

I think what I am going to do is for the battles that I don't know the bands, I am going to request from the other BBers 1 song to listen to from each album and then vote that way.

Lots of stuff here that I'm not familiar with, so I'm looking forward to checking out a bunch of albums.

Also...Excluding Sabaton "The Art of War" is bullshit. But you gotta do what you gotta do.

Wait, Obscura over The Erosion of Sanity. Can't wait to vote against that.
