Black metal as a musical style is neither here nor there. It's online black metal culture that can die screaming.

I think the reason I don't do many year-end lists is that I only get into a few records a year, tops. Which is odd considering how much music I expose myself to. YouTube's autoplay algorithm is far and away the best tool I've found for automating that process. Some years I spend more time listening to new music than I do listening to shit I already like. Well over a hundred bands annually if I had to guess. If you count albums I haven't heard from bands I know by name, that number is even larger.

So no, it's less your music sucks than your subculture sucking. You two, in particular, have the collective charm of a yeast infection.

You completely avoided my question, and are still using 'you' and 'your' as if we only listen to black metal, which is a result of avoiding my question.

And how would you describe the charm you exude? "Dried diarrhea backsplash on the underside of a toilet seat in an abandoned rural west virginia gas station"?

This year is going to be awesome. COC, Audrey Horne, Immortal, Primordial, Monster Magnet, Turbonegro. The record I'm most excited about is going to be the new Negative Self. I'm really looking forward to see if their second record holds up to the same quality like their debut.

Everything Max was involved in musically after at least Chaos AD was utter shit. Especially Soulfly has always been trendhopping bullshit.

I like the fact that he experiments alot with other genre in Soulfly (reggae, nu-metal, prog, acoustic, tribal shit, aborigène instruments, punk, hardcore, death, thrash ect..)

It's just purely blind love to be honest. The moment i heard Arise when i was 10-11, i was hooked for life with that guy's scream.

I've had that book for a couple of years now, and I still haven't gotten around to reading it. I need to fix that. Beneath the Remains, Arise, and Chaos A.D. were all extremely important in my early days. I haven't really been on board with anything since Roots though.

I’m not one to do preorders often, but that’s essentially all I’ve done so far this year. I have preorders in for:

Primordial
Mournful Congregation
Visigoth
Verheerer
Drudkh

And I might be forgetting something.

i love that when you pre order on itunes they instantly give you the tracks that are already released. portal sounds just a tad more conventional on the two tracks out there. just a tad, mind you.

I must have missed the second portal track but that first one ruled so hard. Super hyped for that album
