Post 2017 death metal
Seems to be a great year so far with kick-ass Obituary, Aborted, Dying Fetus, Decapitation, Broken Hope, Immolation. . . heck, even Six Feet Under knocked out a solid album.

Any others to recommend?

Morfin - Consumed by Evil is one of 2017's best, yet no one seems to be talking about it.

Morta Skuld released Wounds Deeper Than Time a few months ago, and it's a winner.

Gruesome have their Fragments of Psyche EP, but it's only two new songs (one of which is a cover) and a few demo tracks. Still, the title track is fantastic, and the Death cover is great.

I also dig Suffocation's new album.

The Monolith Deathcult's new album is on track to be my top one of the year. But you gotta be into WW2 nazi mythology.

Phrenlith for sure, it's killer. I have been getting my Stockholm sound fix from the new Entrails, it's pretty spot on for the style. The new Venenum is good if you want something a touch progressive but not overly technical. Also, the Rude album is kind of a ripper for something that's just straight up death metal. I am surprised and happy to say that the best death metal album that I have heard this year is the new Immolation. It's a real gem, and close to being on par with their best work.

The new Desultory was a nice surprise.
Also, Vampire and Vallenfyre are both killer.

I forgot about the new Lantern. I like that one a lot. It doesn't seem to be getting the buzz that their last album did, but I think it's a stronger album. Probably going to make my year end list.

Never understood the hype for Lantern. The drums and Dapper Dan's street team were enough for me to write off Below. I do like the ep before Below, it's listenable and has some rad old school moments.
I forgot about Gorephilia, that shit rips. I will pick up the Necrot this week, I should get familiar with it before I see them in two weeks. That Ensnared is killer, kinda mellow, but very good, not what I thought it would be, so it was a different surprise. I will pick up the Immolation when I get the Necrot. I like the new Maim a lot, has that guitar tone we all like, the Darth Balls of the world should be all over it.

I hope, well I anxiously await a new Crucifier album. That is my most anticipated 2017 DM release.

Also, Decrepit Birth finally releases their first album in seven years this weekend. I pre-ordered it a couple of days ago; I cannot wait to get it!

You try the new Lantern? It's a lot better, and worth a shot for you I think.

The new Lantern is awesome. I just don't feel it holds up to Below. Musically, it's more focused, but it lacks something the previous album had.

Gonna check out some of the stuff in this thread, always on the hunt for new death metal.

Voidhanger hit the nail on the head with some of my favorite albums. But there's still so many here that I haven't heard, so I'm DEFINITELY gonna have to check most of these out. This year has been amazing for death metal
