Ensnared - Dysangelium

Haven't checked to see if anyone posted about this yet, but this is some quality death metal. Haven't been keeping up with Dark Descent releases lately, but I see I've been missing out....

Sons of Crom - The Black Tower

https://sonsofcrom.bandcamp.com/track/b ... gs-up-high

Epic doom from Sweden. never heard of these guys. The album is due out in Aug and there's only one track available for now but it sounds promising. Plus it's released by Nordvis.

I wish people would stop calling stuff epic.

Epic doom and epic black are fine. They differentiate the stylistic differences within the genres.

Scald and Candlemass are epic doom metal bands. Pentagram and St. Vitus are not.

Summoning and Ered Wethrin are epic black metal bands. Marduk and Anal Napkin are not.

For those that dig the retro traditional/doom metal thing that Swedish bands tend to be...

Also, for those desperately wanting new King Diamond....Attic (the band I think that does the best twist on the KD style) have a new one out in August.

I was hyping this before it came out, because I quite liked their debut, The Giants of Auld. I thought The Forty-Five would be great, especially when the preview song was decent. But the actual album underwhelmed me. Some of the band have backed up Andy Marshall in the past, and it sounds to me like blander, watered down Saor. The Forty-Five isn't bad, but I expected more/better.

genre: progressive atmo BM

I like their past efforts quite a bit and hated this one on first spin. Now that's fully digested, I'm considering it as a contender for my top 15. Fans of fen however few they may be around these parts may find to be up their alley.

Nice, added to the list...

I can't stop jamming their last one "No Peace in Hell". 40 minutes of beatdown and vitriol.
