This one broke the record for first week vinyl sales.

What is up with people's infatuation with this dude? The first few White Stripes albums were okay, but after that I mostly couldn't stand his music and how he sounded. That fucking 'Icky Thump' single he had that was huge was one of this shittiest, most annoying popular rock songs I'd heard in a long, long time.

I just don't get it anymore.

This guy, and the White Stripes, always remind of this stupid chick and her hippy ass idiot boyfriend who she dragged back here from the mountains of BC. They were fucking superfans that I got into an argument with about Neil Young.

I was saying how the guy is basically the godfather of grunge, and is called as such, and how he has plenty of grungy, ugly sounding songs. They claimed to be huge Neil Young fans as well, and vehemently disagreed with the assessment that Neil is grungy. I now hate them and their musical opinions, which are now forever invalid. :)

Lol, those idiots probably would have accused him of just being a copycat who jumped on the grunge bandwagon since that album was released in '94.

Infestus - The Reflecting Void

Solid BM from Germany, stylistically similar to Secrets of the Moon, i would say, clean and vetrical sounding production.

Pretty good offering of black/thrash to be found here. I think I've only seen Blasphomet and myself enjoying this one, but I don't know if many people have had the opportunity to check it out yet.

ERED WETHRIN is the 3rd band from Salt Lake City, Utah, that signed to Northern Silence, and occasionally it may remind the listener of CALADAN BROOD or SUMMONING.

While the lyrics also deal with epic fantasy themes (Horus Heresy, Black Company, Malazan Book of the Fallen, etc.), the style of the music tends more towards the Scandinavian Symphonic Black Metal of the 90s...

The band describes itself as a "mixture of death- and blackmetal". Can't say I'm hearing much of the latter on the album. The DM part sounds like a cross between The Crown and God Dethroned.

Menace from Greece. New full-length out already, February of this year.. Description I read said very much in the vein of Razor, Overkill, and Flotsam and Jetsam...sounds pretty spot on.

Production is hella 80s as well.

Instrumental indie-style rock. They're better known in indie circles and in the metal world as the band who bitched about Metallica playing that festival a week or two back.

They are immensely talented group of players. This time out they incorporated a lot of electronics into the mix.

Kaunis Kuolemation - if you like stuff like Novembers Doom, Runemagick, Swallow the Sun, etc - this will be right up your alley. May be the album i've listened to the most this year.

Ignore the awful devil baby doing the Heisman pose on the cover, the album rips. It's the closest thing I can think of from this year, but a little more straight DM than freewheeling death metal fun.

I like it, but it's to damn clean. Should appeal to people who like their Death Metal perfect. I need shit a little dirtier, not unlike their first offering.

I would like a little more grit myself, but I thought that the first one lacked punch. It seemed a bit too thin, and the vocals were more buried than I would have liked. I think that this one has songs that are a little more memorable, so I probably like it a little bit better. For me though, this band still hasn’t put out an album with quite the right production. Both have their charm, but neither is exactly what I like for this style.
