I’ve been looking forward to this album, from one of my favourite bands, for a while. The first single has a very Angelo Badalamenti feel to it and the video is very Lynchian.

This one deserves some love. He needs no introduction, however, doesn't get spoken of often around these parts. This album is filled with great playing, riffs, his trademark melodic leads and the last song while acoustic is pretty darn cool (has Don Dokken on vocals). Rest of the album is sung by Doogie White: Michael Schenker-"Birdge the Gap" :shred: 8)

reliable source in new zealand ( webstore owner there ) said relapse will be reissuing that release! I am stokes myself, the vinyl is more of a frame & hang item these days, not much sound left in the grooves.......

+1

It's really good. I just wish that it was a little bit shorter, but that's a minor complain. I gotta say that I'm fairly new to this band and I've been really impressed by the albums I've heard so far. Sounds like a jazz band decided to cover funeral doom songs.

Slough Feg - Digital Resistance

Image

I know it's technically already been posted in this thread, but that was before any music on it was posted, and it wasn't posted in the format given in the OP, and since it officially comes out tomorrow, I thought I'd do a write up.

Most of us are familiar with Slough Feg - and if you aren't, you're not doing it right (listen to Traveler and Down Among the Dead Men, NOW). They're a traditional heavy metal band - Maidenesque, without sounding like a Maiden knock-off - and they do it oh, so well. One of the pillars of American traditional heavy metal, up there with Manilla Road, and personally one of my all-time favourite bands.

I'm totally in love with this album. It's exactly what I want from this band - rockin' riffs, witty lyrics, and that no-fucks-given Scalzi attitude that is so recognizably Slough Feg. I'd say this actually surpassed my expectations - it's better than their last two albums, in my opinion. This is definitely the first album to come out this year so far that's actually worth picking up, and although it's only February, I wouldn't be surprised if this ranks in my top 5 - hell, if this came out last year, it definitely would have.

Promising heavy/power metal debut. Could be a little tighter here and there but definitely enjoyable.

I suspect it's due to the album being a self-released debut. Unless their policies have changed since I heard about it, it's a deal-breaker.

New song from Sorcier Des Glaces. "The Frozen Sword of Midnight" will be featured on the new album Ritual of the End, to be released on Obscure Abhorrence Productions on January 31, 2014

debut EP for Thrym (Swe). Mid tempo viking/doom radness. Reminding me of Atlantean Kodex a bit actually. Really nice clean vocals. Songs have epic feels without being overly long and tedious.
