Post Re: Jimmy Jammers Jam Joint: Album of the Day
IRS Records put out several "Guitar Speak" albums starting in 1988, with this album, in their "No Speak" series. This is my favorite of the series. It features 12 songs made especially for this album from 12 guitar legends. All instrumental, "Guitar Speak" volume one is as about as good as these type of various artists albums get. It's 12 melodic songs run from heavy, to funky, to almost fusion. Just about every cut here is a cut above the rest.

Eric Johnson's "Western Flyer" is my favorite here, the heaviest song I've heard from this great guitarist, though I only own his first three albums. To bad he didn't follow this route more!

For you guitar lovers out there, this one's a must have!

1. No Limit - Alvin Lee
2. The Prisoner - Randy California
3. Western Flyer - Eric Johnson
4. Let Me Out' A Here - Leslie West
5. Blood Alley - Ronnie Montrose
6. Sharp On The Attack - Steve Howe
7. Sphinx - Phil Manzanera
8. Sloe Moon Rising - Rick Derringer
9. Danjo - Pete Haycock
10. Urban Strut - Steve Hunter
11. Captain Zlogg - Hank Marvin
12. Strut-A- Various - Robby Krieger

From 1988, here is various artist, "Guitar Speak Volume 1."

Here is a band I used to book from the Quad Cities (IA & IL). If you like to funk it out with some great fusion, it don't get much better. Monster bass!

From 1996, here is Burnt McMelba Toast, "Burnt McMelba Toast" album.
