Just discovered this brilliance.

HEILUNG (DEN)

Debut album and live album both self-released in 2017 and both due to drop via Season of Mist in April of this year. Absolutely briliant folk with an obvious black metal influence although there is technically no metal in this music. I'm posting it here because I think that despite this technicality it's still worth hearing.

Quote:
Drawing inspiration from Northern Europe's Iron Age, HEILUNG's themes, lyrics, and ambitious visual presentation evoke the Viking period in grandiose fashion. To pay tribute to their heritage, the Danish trio employ unique instrumentation in their music; ranging from running water via human bones, reconstructed swords and shields, ancient frame drums, bronze rings, and more. Their lyrics are taken from texts found in ancient rune stones, preserved spear shafts, amulets, poems, and other relics of a bygone era. On their debut album 'Ofnir', HEILUNG's percussive, primal music is deeply ritualistic and truly embodies Amplified History.

Highlights (incredible live performances):

Live album came out last year, debut came out in 2015 available in all formats.

I guess this thread has jumped the shark...

2018, or whatever year I care to include here even if they are reissues from 3 years ago, albums that deserve attention...

^^

I find it expensive on bandcamp - 13 bucks for about 10 minutes of music..

So I've head 2 new songs from the new "Negative Self" record. I'm a bit disappointed.
The guitar sound is very thin. The songs aren't as catchy as on the last one.

BUT! if the whole record is gonna be like that it will still get 8/10. :)

Not sure how this hasn't been mentioned yet. First full-length album in 20 years for these guys. Released today.

"Epic doom metal" from the United Kingdom. I know a few people here are fans.

They are only getting distribution this year for most of the world. Relax.

Carpenter Brut - Leather Teeth

Image

Excellent, '80s vibing Synth Rock music. Like all the best things about MTV from way back then rolled into one.

I gather they are similar to Perturbator, but I don't know anything about Perturbator. I just know they get talked about in similar fashion.

Release #6 by this project / band whatever. It's fucking excellent ans it's always the same pattern : 2x 20 min tracks. 1 black, 1 ambient. Prolific (6 albums in 5 years ) and unique.

Old school speed/thrash reminiscent of the first two Dark Angel Lp's.

I ordered this album earlier this week, and also ordered their debut, Crimes Against Humanity.

Yeah, they're on my buddy Tom's label. He's a super good dude. Will be stoked that you're pushing this.

Band's debut was pretty solid. Will def be gripping this.
